I just had a good conversation with the developer for www.studenjourney.org (sj). It is exciting to hear how others are using technology in ivcf to serve students. If you want to get a sense of the future of this project you can visit his blog at http://sjorg.blogspot.com.  From the description of the project you will discover that much of the functionality of student journey is under the hood.
